This 3D Scanner by Fuel 3D is the world’s first handheld 3D Scanner that is not only incredibly user friendly but also very affordable, it would cost you just under $1000 US dollars.

As stated on their Kickstarter page, 3D Scanners have existed for some time but they would normally cost you over $10,000USD and not be nearly as affordable or user friendly. You would use your Fuel 3D Scanner the same way you would use your point-and-shoot (essentailly just aim and press the button to take the picture) camera to take photos.

The Fuel 3D works well with faces and variations in skin color so it is an excellent tool to scan yourself or others to make 3D images of people for Printing. Below you can see some images taken by the Fuel 3D.

The Fuel 3D was created by some brilliant minds at Oxford University. It was originally developed as an imaging device for the medical field. Even though in the Prototype phase Fuel 3D’s Prototype is fully operational!

Fuel 3D also states that the Scanners for sale will be even smaller and a different design from what you see in the picture at the top of this post. Fuel 3D is still working on some finishing touches to their Scanner and software, such as adding support for Mac OS devices.

You can pre-order your Fuel 3D Scanner and get the production model when it becomes available for $990USD. Below you will find the Fuel 3D company presenting their Scanner.
